  1. I think this proves that no matter what or how good a Christian you are you are still human, and human’s make mistakes. Thank God he is an awesome God and will forgive and get us on the right path again.

  2. Thank you for your comment, Jodi. I agree wholeheartedly with your reminder of everyone’s “humanness” and of the the magnificent mercy of God in providing a Savior for us to repent and “get … on the right path again.”

    That said, we may be wrong in our interpretation of the scriptures that seem to report Noah’s drunkenness. When we look at the story as a whole in its ancient setting, it seems possible that Noah was *not* drunk but rather in a vision. Although, of course, Noah was not perfect, it is not a given that drunkenness was one of his weaknesses, despite what Genesis 9 seems to say. Instead, as I try to explain in the article, misunderstandings in this story may have arisen as part of a deliberate tendency by some ancient authors to minimize Noah’s standing as a prophet.
